Maharshi Dayanand
University (MDU) has been re-accredited with ‘A’ grade by the National
Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
This decision was taken by the Executive Council of NAAC in its meeting
held yesterday (July 8) in Bengaluru.
The NAAC grading is available on the NAAC website.
MDU Vice Chancellor H.S.
Chahal congratulated the entire University community for this sterling
achievement. He said the efforts and
hard work put in by all the sections of University, including faculty members,
research scholars, students, non-teaching staff has bore fruit. He said that this grading confirms the
culture of excellence prevalent in the University. Notably, MDU has progressed leaps
and bounds in last few years. He
acknowledged the concerted efforts made by Ex Vice Chancellor Dr. R.P. Hooda
for re-accreditation of the varsity.
Notably, NAAC Peer team
had visited MDU from March 18 to 21 this year for inspecting the facilities
available in the varsity and its various facets based on seven criterions viz. Curricular aspects, Teaching Learning and
Evaluation, Research, Consultancy & Extension, Infrastructure and learning
Resources, Student support and progression, Governance, Leadership & Management,
and Innovations & Best Practice. The
varsity’s progress report was evaluated.
MDU got CGPA of 3.03 out of 5.00 to get this ‘A’ grading.
MDU Director, PR Sunit
Mukherjee said that notably excellent infrastructure, innovative programmes,
wide range of traditional and professional courses, sterling achievements in
sports, expanding research work, community interface, regular extra-curricular
activities, congenial academic environment, pro-active leadership, and foray
into e-governance marked the progress journey of MDU in recent times which has
been acknowledged by NAAC.
Further, MDU Vice
Chancellor H.S. Chahal has re-iterated his commitment to develop MDU as a
leading varsity of the nation and a Centre of Academic Excellence. He said that NAAC’s ‘A’ grading would go a
long way to bolster the developmental strides of MDU.
